Following an award by USAID, the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is leading a project with other Indian institutional partners to improve the evidence base for healthcare financing in India. As part of this, IHP is providing technical support to PHFI and Indian counterparts to design and implement a national health accounts system in India, with regional state accounts and ultimately a full disease accounts. IHP technical support will focus on ensuring that Indias NHA system is fully compliant with international standards, and builds on regional and global experience and best practices. The PHFI project is expected to last 4 years till 2018, and also includes significant components looking at health equity, which will expand and build on work done by the Equitap network in India, and impact evaluation of recent healthcare financing reforms in India.
