Global review of health expenditure models for demographic transition and population ageing in developing countries

    Project ID: AG-001 Status: Completed

The Global Review of Health Expenditure Models was commissioned by the WHO Kobe Center for Health and Development as part of its work agenda exploring the implications of ageing for health systems. In the major part of this project, Dr Rannan-Eliya and Dr Wijesinghe conducted a systematic global review of the different methods and approaches used to project future health spending in different countries, which was compiled into a review monograph. In the second part of the project, protocols for developing standardised expenditure projections in developing countries were developed for use in any future comparative cross-country study. The work from this project is to be published by WHO Kobe Centre, and will also be presented at the Global Forum 10 Conference in Cairo, Egypt.
