Literature review of status of affected population before and after the tsunami in Sri Lanka |
|
Project ID: DM-001 |
Status: Completed |
As part of a global assessment being conducted by UNICEF, IHP was commissioned to review the available literature on the status of the population before and after the tsunami in tsunami-affected areas of Sri Lanka. This review systematically documented what is known about changes in health, demographic, educational and other social indicators in the coastal areas of Sri Lanka before and after the 2004 Tsunami. Work involved systematic collection and analysis of data from various government agencies, including Department of Census and Statistics, Medical Research Institute, Unicef and others. The final report summarised the findings, together with detailed maps showing the distribution of tsunami impacts by small areas in the country. |
