Dr.W.A.P.P.Ratnasekare obtained MBBS degree from the University of Ruhuna in 1996, Post Graduate Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Disease (DTCD) in 2007 from the PGIM, University of Colombo and then MSc in Medical administration from the PGIM, University of Colombo in 2010. He joined the MD Medical Administration course in September 2013. He was a Registrar attached to the IHP during the month of October 2014.
He worked as an Intern House Officer at the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, Galle (1997-1998). He has also worked as the DMO, District Hospital Kalthota, Balangoda (1999 to 2003), Medical Officer - Respiratory Disease Unit, General Hospital, Kalutara (2003 to 2009). |

After completion of MSc in Medical Administration degree, he was appointed as the Medical Superintendent, Kethumathie Maternity Hospital, Panadura (2011-2012), and then as the Medical Superintendent, Base Hospital, Homagama (2012 to 2013).
